Learning a language isn’t hard because of grammar or conjugation — it’s hard because you don’t know enough words to have fun with it. Lingua1 fixes that. It’s built to help you "learn enough to be dangerous" fast by helping you learn common, useful words and see them used in context.
Lingua1 is fast, light, and designed for repetition. It’s free, has no accounts, no ads, and no marketing funnel — just a clean, frictionless way to build vocabulary daily. Every night at midnight (EST) new words drop, giving you something fresh to practice each day.
You can quiz in both directions — English → Spanish, then Spanish → English — using the same word set for true reinforcement. It’s simple by design, but surprisingly effective, and kind of addictive once you get rolling.
I originally built Lingua1 to help myself memorize material for cloud certification exams. Like most engineers, I eventually realized it was easier to build exactly what I needed than force another tool to fit. When I showed the prototype to a few friends and they started using it every day, I decided it was worth sharing.
Now it’s a place where anyone can pick a language, learn a useful variety of common nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and start forming real sentences sooner than they expect. That’s when learning gets fun — and that’s the whole point of Lingua1.
